I’m a beverage person. I know. A lot of people claim that title, but I am, really – ask my wife! Over the past few years I’ve learned how to make several really good drinks:
- Rosemary Peach Lemonade
- Blueberry Mint Lemonade
- Vanilla, Caramel, Mocha-lavender, Mocha, Peppermint, Mocha-peppermint, and Pumpkin Lattés (FYI—I make all of my own syrups from scratch)
- Vanilla-Chai Tea Lattés
But it’s not just the beverages I make; it’s also the beverages I consume. I enjoy local craft-brewed root beer. When I drink real beer, it’s ONLY the small batch stuff you get at a micro-brewery. I have a very specific coffee taste, and know where the best coffee shops are in town. And on the days where I’m weak and want a soda, I will sometimes make an exception for Coke, but ONLY if it’s in a glass bottle.
You may think this is stupid. That’s okay! But let me explain why. Because the why is where this idea applies to everyone.
I believe life is to be enjoyed – I mean REALLY enjoyed. I don’t want to eat another meal just because I have to. I don’t want to drink another drink, just because I have to. I want to thoroughly enjoy every meal, and I want to thoroughly enjoy every cup of water, lemonade, tea, or coffee.
This concept is a lot bigger than just meals and drinks. This concept – that life is to be enjoyed – applies to every area of our lives. Whether you are setting up a date with your spouse, playing with your kids, working at a job – life should be enjoyed there too.
I don’t really have anything else to say, so this will just be a short post. But I thought it was a pretty good way to begin the week.
Make it a point to enjoy your life. Don’t waste another meal, another drink, or another opportunity to influence someone for good.
