I’m so excited! Ten Days Without comes out next Tuesday, December 17th! I’ve been looking forward to this day for two years now, and I can’t believe it’s here.
The book is about my journey of moving passed good intentions to making a difference in the world. One day I was reading Matthew 25 which says,
“Then the King will say to those on his right: come you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance–the Kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink; I was a stranger and you invited me in; I needed clothes and you clothed me; I was sick and you looked after me; I was in prison and you came to visit me.”
That day, I realized that I hadn’t done any of these things. I wasn’t giving food, water, or clothes to the poor. I wasn’t looking out for lonely people and inviting them over. I wasn’t spending time with the terminally ill. And I definitely wasn’t visiting prisoners. There was an obvious disconnect between what I said I believed, and the way I was living my life.
Ten Days Without is an experiment that I created to move passed a knowledge-based faith to an action-based faith. But it didn’t stop with me. Other people got involved too (and are still getting involved), and the book also includes many of their stories.
I hope you will pick up a copy next Tuesday or preorder it today! My kids will thank you too! If you want to preorder the book, click on your preferred online bookstore…
